Technical SEO

Technical SEO that lets Google read your site cleanly

Before content or links can do their job, search engines have to crawl, render and index your pages without friction. Our technical SEO work finds what is blocking that, fixes it in priority order and keeps it fixed as your site changes.

Who it is for

Technical SEO is usually the right starting point if any of these sound familiar:

  • You have launched a new site or moved platform and organic traffic has not recovered.
  • Google Search Console reports important pages as crawled or discovered but not indexed.
  • Your pages feel slow on mobile or fail Core Web Vitals in real user data.
  • Your developers want a clear, prioritised list rather than a huge export from a tool.

Why it matters

Most technical problems are invisible to visitors. A stray noindex tag, a canonical pointing at the wrong URL, a redirect chain or a navigation menu that only works with JavaScript can quietly keep good pages out of search results for months.

We treat technical SEO as engineering work. Every issue we raise comes with the affected URLs, why it matters, the fix we recommend and how we will check that it worked, so your team or ours can act on it without guesswork.

What is included

  • 200+ point technical audit

A full crawl covering status codes, redirects, canonicals, robots directives, internal links, duplicate content and rendering.

  • Indexing review

Search Console coverage analysed page by page, with the reason each important URL is or is not indexed.

  • Core Web Vitals and speed

LCP, INP and CLS diagnosed from field and lab data, with specific fixes for images, scripts, fonts and server response.

  • Structured data

Schema markup for your organisation, services, products, articles and FAQs, validated against Google's rich result rules.

  • Architecture and internal links

URL structure, navigation and internal linking planned so authority flows to the pages you want to rank.

  • XML sitemaps and robots.txt

Clean sitemaps that list only indexable URLs, and crawl rules that keep bots away from low-value pages.

How we work

  1. Step 01

    Crawl and benchmark

We crawl the site, pull Search Console and analytics data, and record a baseline so later changes can be measured against it.

  2. Step 02

    Prioritise

Issues are ranked by likely impact and effort. You get a plain-English task list, not a raw tool export.

  3. Step 03

    Fix or brief

On packages that include implementation we make the changes ourselves where we have access, or write developer tickets with clear acceptance criteria.

  4. Step 04

    Verify and monitor

We re-crawl, request reindexing where useful and watch Search Console so problems introduced by new releases are caught early.

What we do not promise

Technical SEO removes obstacles. It does not override how Google ranks pages, so we are clear about the limits:

  • We do not guarantee rankings, positions or a set amount of traffic. Nobody outside Google can.
  • We do not promise a perfect 100 score in speed tools. We aim for good Core Web Vitals in real user data.
  • We cannot fix issues on platforms we have no access to, although we will document them for whoever does.

Where it sits in our packages

The technical audit is part of every package from Starter upwards. From Growth we also implement the fixes, and the larger packages add schema markup, speed work and ongoing monitoring.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a technical SEO audit take?

For most small and medium sites, the crawl, analysis and written report take one to two weeks. Very large sites, or sites where every page needs JavaScript rendering, can take longer. You receive a prioritised task list at the end, and we walk through it with you on a call so nothing is left open to interpretation.

Do you need access to our CMS or hosting?

Not for the audit. We can crawl your public site and work from read access to Google Search Console and analytics. If your package includes implementation, we will ask for editor or developer access to the CMS. Alternatively, we can work through your developers by writing clear tickets they can pick up.

Will fixing technical issues improve our rankings?

It often helps, because pages that cannot be crawled or indexed cannot rank at all. But technical health is only one factor among many. Content quality, relevance and authority still matter, so we treat technical SEO as the foundation the rest of the work is built on rather than a guarantee of results.

Which platforms can you work with?

We can work with WordPress, Shopify, Webflow, Next.js and other modern frameworks, as well as custom builds. The principles of crawling, rendering and indexing are the same everywhere. What changes is how fixes are made, so we adapt our recommendations to what your platform and your team can realistically do.

Can you help with a site migration?

Yes. We map old URLs to new ones, check redirects before and after launch, compare crawls of both versions and monitor Search Console in the weeks afterwards. Migrations carry real risk to organic traffic, so the earlier we are involved in planning, the more problems we can prevent rather than repair.
