AI search optimisation (GEO)
AI search optimisation so answer engines can find and cite you
More people now ask ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity or Google's AI Overviews before they click a result. These systems still rely on content they can crawl, understand and trust. Generative engine optimisation (GEO) makes your expertise easy for them to find, quote and attribute to you.

Who it is for
AI search optimisation is most useful for:
- Businesses whose customers research carefully before buying, such as professional services, B2B and healthcare.
- Brands that already rank in Google but are rarely mentioned in AI-generated answers.
- Companies whose real expertise is buried in PDFs, sales decks or people's heads rather than on the website.
- Teams that want to know which AI crawlers can reach their site and what those crawlers are allowed to use.
Why it matters
AI assistants build answers from sources they can retrieve and interpret. If your pages are blocked from their crawlers, vague about what you do, or inconsistent with what other sites say about you, they have little reason to mention you.
GEO is not a replacement for SEO. It builds on the same foundations: crawlable pages, clear structure and genuine authority. What it adds is a focus on answerable passages, clarity about who you are, and consistent brand information across the sources these systems draw on.
What is included
AI visibility review
We test how AI assistants answer questions in your field today, and whether your business appears, is described accurately or is missing.
AI crawler access
A review of robots.txt and server rules for GPTBot, Google-Extended, PerplexityBot and others, so your policy is a deliberate choice.
Entity and brand consistency
Your organisation, services and people described the same way on your site, your profiles and key directories.
Answer-ready content
Key pages restructured so questions are answered directly in clear, self-contained passages backed by evidence.
Structured data
Organization, Service, FAQ and Article schema that states the facts about your business in machine-readable form.
llms.txt and reference pages
Where useful, an llms.txt file and clean reference pages that summarise what you do and point to your best sources.
How we work
Step 01
Baseline prompts
We agree a set of realistic questions your customers ask and record how AI assistants answer them today.
Step 02
Find the gaps
We compare those answers with your content, schema and outside mentions to see why you are or are not cited.
Step 03
Improve the sources
Pages, structured data and brand information are updated, starting with the topics closest to revenue.
Step 04
Re-test regularly
The same prompts are run again on a schedule, so you can see how the answers change over time.
What we do not promise
AI search is new and changes quickly, so we are especially careful here:
- We do not guarantee that any AI assistant will mention, recommend or link to you.
- AI answers vary by user, wording, location and model version. Any result we observe is a snapshot, not a fixed position.
- We do not use tricks such as hidden text or instructions aimed at AI systems. They are unreliable and can damage trust in your brand.
Where it sits in our packages
GEO optimisation for AI search is included from the Authority package, alongside content and digital PR, because AI visibility depends on both clear pages and mentions on other sites.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between SEO and GEO?
SEO aims to rank pages in search results. GEO, or generative engine optimisation, aims to make your content easy for AI systems to retrieve, understand and cite in their answers. In practice the two overlap heavily: most of what helps AI answers, such as clear content, structured data and authority, also helps traditional rankings.
Can you track how often AI tools mention us?
We track a fixed set of agreed prompts across the main assistants and record whether you appear and how you are described. That gives a consistent trend over time. It is not a complete count of every conversation, because AI providers do not publish that data and answers differ from one user to the next.
Should we block AI crawlers?
It depends on your goals. Blocking training crawlers can protect your content, but blocking search and retrieval crawlers may stop assistants from citing you at all. We explain what each crawler is used for, based on its operator's documentation, and help you set rules that reflect a business decision rather than whatever the defaults happen to be.
Does Google AI Overviews use the same signals as normal search?
Google's guidance says a page only needs to be indexed and eligible to show with a snippet in Search to appear as a link in AI Overviews, with no extra technical requirements. Technical health, helpful content and clear structure therefore matter for both. We focus on those fundamentals and on passages that directly answer the questions people ask.
